Comment from a coworker who’s never been outside the U.S. on trying to get a passport at the U.S. post office:
“Everything is just so frustrating! It’s not simple! I mean, why can’t they do things more efficiently? Why do they have to make it so hard?”
Just wait until you get to South America, buddy. THEN you’ll experience true bureaucratic inefficiency. Like 2 separate trips to Ecuador to apply for my national identity card and passport. Like going to at least 6 different government offices. Like standing outside at the Registro Civil for 5 hours. Like offices closed for the “Day of the Public Official.” But at long last, I got it!
From the same guy:
“What kind of shoes do I wear in Pakistan?”
